Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern the use of the Skandilo website and online store (the “Service”), and the purchase of products from Skandilo.

By using the Service, creating an account, or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.

The Service is operated by Skandilo, business ID FI10914658, with registered address at Alvar Aallon katu 8, 40600 Jyvaskyla, Finland (“Skandilo”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

Website: www.skandilo.com

These Terms are effective from 01.04.2026

1. Scope

Skandilo designs furniture and objects as organic architecture for living—pieces that quietly shape a room rather than simply fill it. The forms are soft and natural, but the work behind them is strict: clean junctions, controlled thicknesses, refined edges, and finishing made for daily life.

We believe a home should feel steady. Furniture should bring clarity in the morning, calm in the evening, and a sense of ease throughout the day. That is why we avoid noise and novelty. We design for presence, material truth, and long-term use—so each piece feels right now and remains right over time.

What guides every Skandilo piece:

  • Chosen with intention — fewer pieces, better resolved

  • Architecture over decoration — objects that anchor and bring order

  • Organic forms, strict details — fluid silhouettes with disciplined geometry

  • Honest materials — walnut, ash, and marble, chosen for how they age

  • Made to last — built for decades, with clear care and long-term service

  • Comfort is non-negotiable — refined, but made to be used and lived with

  • Calm confidence — no trend-chasing, only quiet relevance

Skandilo’s promise is straightforward: disciplined design, real materials, and lasting quality.

2. Use of the Service

You may use the Service to browse products, request information, create an account where available, and place orders.

All content on the Service, including text, product descriptions, images, drawings, graphics, trademarks, logos, layout, and other materials, belongs to Skandilo and/or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, modify, or commercially exploit any part of the Service without prior written permission from Skandilo.

We reserve the right to suspend access to the Service, restrict or close user accounts, or refuse service where necessary, including in cases of misuse, suspected fraud, breach of these Terms, or other justified reasons.

3. Registration

You may place orders with or without registration, unless otherwise stated in the Service. If registration is offered, you must provide accurate and complete information, including your real name, delivery address, telephone number, and email address. Business customers may also be required to provide company details, including business ID and VAT number where applicable. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity carried out through your account.

4. Orders

Products are ordered through the Service by adding them to the shopping cart and completing payment using one of the available payment methods.

All Skandilo products sold through the online store are made to order, unless expressly stated otherwise.

A binding sales agreement is formed only when Skandilo sends an order confirmation accepting the order. Any automatically generated order receipt or payment receipt does not by itself mean that the order has been accepted.

Because products are made to order, delivery times are confirmed separately after the order has been reviewed and accepted. Any lead time shown on the website before acceptance is indicative only.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order at our discretion, including in cases of pricing errors, technical errors, stock or material unavailability, suspected fraud, incomplete customer information, delivery restrictions, or practical impossibility of fulfilment. If an order is cancelled after payment has been made, the amount paid will be refunded without undue delay.

If you place an order on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

5. Prices and Payment

The applicable price for a product is the price shown in the Service at the time the order is placed.

All prices and delivery charges are shown in EUR, unless otherwise stated. Prices include VAT where required by applicable law.

For deliveries outside the EU, local taxes, customs duties, import charges, and similar fees are the responsibility of the customer unless expressly stated otherwise.

Delivery charges and any optional service fees are shown separately at checkout or otherwise confirmed before shipment.

Payment must be made using one of the payment methods made available in the Service. Unless otherwise agreed, payment must be received before production, processing, or shipment begins.

Promotional codes, campaign offers, and discount codes are valid only under their stated terms and cannot be applied retroactively unless expressly agreed.

6. Delivery

Because Skandilo products are made to order, delivery times vary by product, finish, order size, destination, and production schedule. Lead time is confirmed separately after order acceptance.

Skandilo offers different delivery methods depending on the product and destination. These may include:

parcel delivery,

threshold or door delivery,

curbside delivery, and

white glove delivery, which may include carrying items inside, placement, assembly, and/or packaging removal where separately agreed.

The applicable delivery method and any related fees will be confirmed before shipment.

Unless otherwise expressly agreed, standard delivery does not include installation, assembly, carrying products beyond the agreed delivery point, or removal of packaging materials.

White glove or other enhanced delivery services are available only where expressly agreed, may be subject to location-based limitations, and may incur additional charges.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that:

the delivery address and contact details are correct,

access to the premises is possible,

any restrictions relating to stairs, lifts, door widths, permits, or site access are communicated in advance, and

the products can be safely delivered to the intended location.

If delivery cannot be completed due to incorrect information, missed delivery, inaccessible premises, or other circumstances attributable to the customer, Skandilo reserves the right to charge additional costs for storage, return, handling, or redelivery.

We may deliver products from the same order in separate shipments where necessary.

Risk of loss or damage passes to the customer upon delivery, unless mandatory law provides otherwise. If Skandilo arranges the delivery, the seller remains responsible for the goods until they are delivered to the consumer.

Any visible transport damage should be noted at delivery and reported to Skandilo without undue delay. This request is intended to help resolve transport claims quickly and does not limit any statutory rights regarding defects or non-conformity. Under Finnish consumer guidance, a seller may encourage prompt reporting, but cannot shorten the consumer’s legal complaint rights by imposing a strict short complaint deadline.

We are not liable for delays or failure to perform caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including force majeure, transport disruption, supply shortages, strikes, governmental action, or other comparable events.

7. Cancellation and Returns

For Skandilo orders, the cancellation and return rules are as follows:

A. Standard made-to-order products
If a product is made to order but not customised to your specific dimensions, materials, or other personal choices beyond Skandilo’s standard options, the statutory consumer withdrawal right applies unless mandatory law allows otherwise.

B. Customised or personalised products
If a product is made to your specifications, customised in dimensions, material combinations, finishes, or other bespoke details, or otherwise clearly personalised for you, the statutory right of withdrawal does not apply to the extent permitted by law.

C. Business, trade, project, and institutional orders
Orders placed by companies, institutions, architects, designers, or other professional customers are non-cancellable and non-returnable once accepted, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

To exercise a valid right of cancellation, you must notify us clearly before the withdrawal period expires. Your notice should include your name, order number, and a clear statement that you wish to cancel.

Returns contact: info@skandilo.com

If the product has already been delivered and a valid right of cancellation exists, it must be returned without undue delay and no later than 14 days after you notify us of cancellation.

Returned products must be:

unused except to the extent necessary to inspect them,

complete,

undamaged beyond such inspection, and

returned in their original packaging where reasonably possible, or in equivalent protective packaging.

Unless otherwise required by law, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs. If the returned item is large, such as a furniture piece, the customer must also bear the direct cost of returning it.

We may withhold a refund until we have received the returned goods or proof that they have been sent back, whichever occurs first. Refunds are made using the same payment method used for the original purchase unless otherwise agreed.

We may reduce the refund if the value of the product has been diminished due to handling beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics, and function.

Nothing in this section limits your rights in the event of a defective or non-conforming product.

8. Defects and Complaints

You must inspect the products upon receipt and notify Skandilo of any defect, shortage, transport damage, or other non-conformity without undue delay.

Complaint notices should include:

the order number,

a description of the issue, and

photographs where relevant.

Consumers in the EU have a minimum 2-year legal guarantee for goods that are faulty or not as described. If a product is defective, the seller must repair or replace it free of charge, or, if that is not possible or proportionate, provide a price reduction or refund.

Natural variation in wood, marble, leather, cork, and textile surfaces is part of the nature of the materials and is not considered a defect. This includes variation in colour, grain, veining, texture, surface expression, and the changes that occur over time through light exposure, patina, or normal ageing.

Minor variation between website images, material samples, and the delivered product may also occur due to the nature of the materials, photography, screen settings, and production variation, and is not in itself a defect.

9. Warranty

Skandilo products are covered by a warranty against manufacturing defects for a period of 2 years from the date of delivery, unless otherwise stated for a specific product.

The warranty does not cover:

normal wear and tear,

natural ageing or patina,

misuse or neglect,

accidental damage,

damage caused by failure to follow care instructions,

incorrect installation, storage, or handling,

or modifications or repairs carried out by third parties without Skandilo’s approval.

This warranty does not limit any statutory rights available to consumers under applicable law, including the minimum legal guarantee rights described above.

Your personal data is processed in accordance with the Skandilo Privacy Policy.

We use personal data only for purposes related to order handling, customer service, delivery, payment processing, legal compliance, and other purposes described in the Privacy Policy. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We reserve the right to modify the Service, product selection, specifications, prices, policies, and these Terms at any time.

The Terms in force at the time of the order apply to that order. Updated Terms become

12. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

To the extent permitted by law, Skandilo is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of use, or other indirect damages arising from use of the Service or purchase of products.

Skandilo’s liability is in all cases limited to the mandatory minimum required by applicable law.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Finland, excluding its conflict of law rules.

We aim to resolve disputes first through discussion and negotiation. If no resolution is reached, disputes shall be submitted to the District Court of Helsinki, Finland, unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.

Consumers in Finland may also seek assistance from the Finnish Consumer Advisory Services and the Consumer Disputes Board. Consumers in the EU may use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform.

These Terms and all related documents are provided in English.

If these Terms are also provided in another language, the English version shall prevail unless otherwise required by mandatory law.
